Dutch giants Ajax have reached a verbal agreement with Premier League club Southampton for the loan signing of Ghanaian winger Kamaldeen Sulemana, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The deal includes an option for Ajax to make the move permanent at the end of the loan spell.
However, the transfer is far from complete, as it heavily depends on the departure of Dutch forward Steven Bergwijn from Ajax. Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad are reportedly interested in signing Bergwijn, which would free up space in Ajax’s squad for Sulemana.
Despite the verbal agreement between the two clubs, personal terms between Ajax and Kamaldeen Sulemana are still being negotiated. The 22-year-old Ghanaian is currently working his way back from an injury and is yet to feature for Southampton since their promotion to the Premier League.
Sulemana’s potential move to Ajax could see him become the eighth Ghanaian player to represent the Dutch club, and the first since Mohammed Kudus in the 2022-23 season.

The loan deal with an option to buy allows Ajax to assess Sulemana’s fitness and form before deciding whether to make the move permanent. If the transfer goes through, it would be a significant boost for the Ghanaian’s career, as he looks to showcase his talent in the Eredivisie.
However, the deal’s completion hinges on Bergwijn’s departure, with Al-Ittihad’s interest in the Dutch forward being a crucial factor. If Bergwijn secures a move away from Ajax, it would pave the way for Sulemana’s arrival and provide him with the opportunity to showcase his skills in the Netherlands.
