AFCON 2025: “We believe in ourselves to qualify”- Otto Addo

Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo is confident Ghana will qualify to the 2025 African Cup of Nations to be staged in Morocco.

The draw for the qualifiers was staged on Thursday with Ghana housed on Group F with Sudan, Angola and Niger.

Speaking to the Ghana Football Association website after the draw, Otto Addo believes the qualifiers will be difficult but he has out most confidence in his team to qualify to Africa’s most prestigious tournament.

“Surely, we believe in ourselves to qualify from this group,” he told the Ghana FA website, “but it’s going to be tough.” To begin with Angola, I think they have a very, very good squad. I think they had a good AFCON but went out after losing 1-0 to Nigeria; they did really, really well in that match, I watched it.

“They are actually doing good right now leading their group in the COSAFA Cup and qualifying for the next round. Also, in the World Cup qualification games, they did quite well, they drew against Cameroon in their last game so they have a strong squad and we can’t take it easy.

“It’s going to be tough, it’s going to be close but like I said I have a strong belief that we can succeed against them.” He added.

The qualifiers will start in September 2024.
