AFCON 2025 Qualifier: Ghana Aims for Redemption Against Sudan

Ghana’s head coach, Otto Addo, has expressed optimism about his team’s chances of defeating Sudan in their upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.

Speaking ahead of the crucial match, Addo emphasized the importance of preparation, concentration, and teamwork. “The probability of losing is very low if we do our homework, play together, and stay focused,” he stated.

The Black Stars currently find themselves in a challenging position, sitting third in Group I with just one point. A loss to Sudan could significantly jeopardize their chances of qualifying for the continental tournament.

The last time Ghana and Sudan faced each other in an AFCON qualifier was in 2020, when Sudan emerged victorious with a 1-0 win. However, Addo remains undeterred. “While there are no guarantees in football, I believe we have a high probability of winning,” he said. “It’s about being prepared, conscious, and fearless.”

The coach urged his players to approach the match with passion and determination. “If our players have the right attitude, show passion, and are fearless, I am confident that we will win,” he added.

Ghana’s clash with Sudan is scheduled for October 10 at the Accra Sports Stadium, with the return leg taking place on October 15. A positive result in both matches is crucial for the Black Stars’ hopes of qualifying for the 2025 AFCON.
