Ghanaian defender Jerome Opoku was on target for Istanbul Basaksehir but it wasn’t enough to prevent a 3-2 defeat to Konyaspor in the Turkish Süper Lig.
The 26-year-old equalized the scoreline in the 45+2 minute, converting a rebound after his penalty was saved. Alassane Ndao had earlier given Konyaspor the lead. However, Ndao proved to be the match-winner, netting two more goals in the 55th and 83rd minutes to seal the victory for Konyaspor.
Despite a late goal from Krzysztof Piątek, Basaksehir couldn’t prevent the defeat. Opoku played the full 90 minutes and received a rating of 6.7 from Sofascore.
With this result, Basaksehir remain in eighth place in the league with 15 points from 10 matches.
The Istanbul-based side will now turn their attention to the Europa Conference League, where they face Danish side Copenhagen on November 7. Jerome Opoku has been a key player for Basaksehir this season, making 10 league appearances, scoring two goals, and providing three assists.
