John Laryea:WBO Africa Champion Credits Mentors for Success

WBO Africa Featherweight Champion, John Abaja Laryea, has revealed that undefeated American boxers Floyd Mayweather and Terence Crawford are his biggest inspirations.

The 22-year-old, who recently secured his first victory on US soil, credits the pair for shaping his boxing philosophy.

‘’these two boxers have taught him many lessons in life, apart from what he learns from his trainer, Coach Carl Lokko and manager Sammy Anim Addo.’’ He stated

Laryea, who boasts an undefeated record of 14 fights, is determined to reach the pinnacle of boxing. “I am still learning and I hope to achieve greatness, so I don’t joke with my training” he stated.

Beyond the boxing ring, Laryea has a soft spot for children. He enjoys spending time with the young people in his community of Bukom and Jamestown, and he’s committed to helping them reach their full potential.

The WBO Africa featherweight champion urged parents to prioritize their children’s well-being, recognizing the uncertainties of life.

Laryea hinted that he has been very lucky to meet Coach Lokko and Sammy Anim Addo who changed his life because he could have been a bad boy.

“In fact I thank God Almighty for my life and I wish all my gym mates at the Bronx Boxing Club will be patient ant wait for their time. There is no rush in life because if you rush you will crush” he said.

John Abaja Laryea also expressed gratitude to his international manager, Peter Kahn, for his support and guidance.
