Michael Baidoo Earns Late Ghana Call-Up for AFCON Qualifiers

Elfsborg forward Michael Baidoo has received a late call-up to the Ghana national team ahead of their crucial AFCON qualifiers against Sudan.

The 25-year-old replaces Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey, who has been ruled out due to injury.

Michael Baidoo has been a standout performer for Elfsborg this season, scoring 14 goals and providing seven assists in 38 matches across all competitions. His impressive form has earned him a place in the Ghana squad for the upcoming qualifiers.

Other players who have received late call-ups include Abu Francis (Cercle Brugge), Jonas Adjetey (FC Basel), and Ibrahim Sadick (AZ Alkmaar). They will replace Joseph Painstil of La Galaxy, Kingsley Schindler of Samsunspor, and Ibrahim Osman of Feyenoord, respectively.

Ghana began their training camp in Accra on October 7th in preparation for the crucial qualifiers. The Black Stars will host Sudan on October 10th and return for the second leg on October 15th. With the addition of Baidoo and the other late call-ups, Ghana will be aiming to secure a positive result in their quest to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
