The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is awaiting the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) decision following their inspection of the Accra and Cape Coast stadia.
This inspection was requested by the GFA and the Ministry of Youth and Sports in preparation for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Sudan.
CAF officials visited the two venues over the weekend after banning the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, where Ghana’s last game against Angola was hosted, due to the “poor quality of the pitch.”
Speaking at the #SaveGhanaFootball probe before Parliament’s Sports Select Committee on September 30, GFA President Kurt Okraku stated that the final decision now lies with CAF.
“Mr. Chairman, we are waiting for CAF. We have done the hard work, we are waiting for CAF. The experts within us have been there, and I will not comment on their report to me. I will wait for CAF to speak,” Okraku remarked.

The Black Stars are set to face Sudan in a crucial doubleheader, with the home match scheduled for Friday, October 11, at a venue yet to be determined. The return leg will take place on Monday, October 14, at Libya’s Martyrs of February Stadium.
Ghana is currently third in Group F, having secured only one point after a 1-0 loss to Angola and a 1-1 draw against Niger.
