Antoine Griezmann has surprisingly revealed on Monday morning his decision to retire from French National Team via his Instagram. Griezmann’s international career began in 2010, when he was 22 years old.
His debut came against the Netherlands in a friendly match. Over the subsequent years, he established himself as a key figure in the French national team.
The attacker, who has spent his entire professional career in Spain, achieved significant success with France. He was a pivotal member of the team that won the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. Additionally, Griezmann also clinched the UEFA Nations League title with Les Bleus.
At the 2016 UEFA European Championship, Griezmann played a crucial role in France’s run to the final. Despite losing the final to Portugal, he finished as one of the tournament’s top scorers with six goals.
Only two players have made more appearances for France than Griezmann (137). Olivier Giroud, who also recently announced his international retirement, played the same number of matches. Furthermore, Lilian Thuram (142) and goalkeeper Hugo Lloris (145) hold the record for the most international appearances for France.
