CAF Super Cup: Al Ahly Coach Warns of Tough Test Against Zamalek

Al Ahly head coach Marcel Koller has issued a stern warning ahead of his team’s CAF Super Cup clash against arch-rivals Zamalek.

The match, scheduled for September 27 at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, is expected to be a fiercely contested affair.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Koller emphasized the challenging nature of the encounter. “The Super Cup will be played as a single match, and it is crucial for us to win it,” he stated. “We have several motivations at the start of the season to claim this title.”

The Swiss tactician acknowledged the formidable quality of Zamalek, highlighting their storied history in African football. “There is no difference between playing against Zamalek on a national or African stage,” Koller said. “They are a prestigious team and a formidable opponent.”

With tickets for the match selling out in just 24 hours, Koller expressed his delight at the prospect of playing in front of a packed stadium. “We always aim for victory and strive to deliver the best performance possible,” he added. “I am thrilled to see the stadium filled with fans, all eager to witness an intense match against a strong opponent.”

While Koller remained tight-lipped about his team selection, speculation has been rife about a potential partnership between Imam Ashour and Mohamed Magdy Afsha. The decision will undoubtedly be crucial in determining Al Ahly’s attacking strategy.
