Asante Kotoko are exploring the possibility of relocating to the Len Clay Sports Stadium in Obuasi for the 2024/25 season after the National Sports Authority (NSA) announced the closure of Baba Yara Sports Stadium for renovations.
The closure, set to last one month, comes in the wake of Ghana’s recent 1-0 defeat to Angola in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, a match that exposed the stadium’s poor pitch quality.
The defeat ended Ghana’s 24-year unbeaten run at Baba Yara, and many attributed the loss to the condition of the playing surface.
In response, Asante Kotoko are considering moving their home fixtures to Len Clay Sports Stadium, impacting early-season matches against Nsoatreman FC and Young Apostles.

The club has already initiated discussions with AngloGold Ashanti about the potential relocation and is in advanced talks. The facilities at Len Clay have been inspected, with final approval from the Ghana Football Association pending.
Meanwhile, CAF has banned Baba Yara Stadium from hosting international matches until significant upgrades are made, forcing Ghana to explore alternative venues for their upcoming AFCON qualifier against Sudan.
