Otto Addo names squad for AFCON qualifiers against Angola and Niger

Ghana coach Otto Addo has unveiled his squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, with key matches against Angola and Niger on the horizon.

In a notable omission, Black Stars captain Andre Ayew has been left out of the squad. The veteran forward, currently without a club, also missed the last selection.

Stepping up as captain is Arsenal’s Thomas Partey, who will be supported by seasoned players including Jordan Ayew, fresh off a hat-trick performance in his previous appearance.

The squad sees the return of Majeed Ashimeru, who has recovered from injury, alongside Athletic Bilbao’s Inaki Williams. However, injuries have sidelined Ernest Nuamah and Forson Amankwah, with the latter’s absence deemed precautionary despite his injury being less severe than initially feared.
