Manchester United have reached an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) to sign Uruguayan midfielder Manuel Ugarte for a fee of €50m (£42.29m).
The deal also includes potential additional payments of €10m (£8.46m).
Ugarte, 23, could fly to Manchester for a medical as early as Tuesday, as his move to Old Trafford edges closer. This transfer comes amid reports of Scott McTominay’s impending switch to Napoli for €30m (£25.37m), which is expected to be finalized soon.
Ugarte joined PSG from Sporting Lisbon just a year ago for a reported fee of €60m and made 37 appearances for the French champions, contributing to their 12th Ligue 1 title. As part of the deal with United, PSG has secured a 10% sell-on clause for the midfielder.

The completion of Ugarte’s move is contingent on McTominay’s successful transfer to Napoli, but there is confidence within United that both deals will be completed. McTominay, a product of United’s youth system, is set to travel to Italy for a medical.
Ugarte has been on United’s radar throughout the summer, and the club has been patient in their negotiations. Should the transfer be completed, Ugarte will become United’s fifth signing of the summer, bringing their total spending to over £190m.
Since Erik ten Hag’s appointment in 2022, United have invested nearly £600m in new players as they continue to build a squad capable of challenging for major honors.
