CAF Champions League: Samartex Coach Reflects on Win against Victory United

FC Samartex coach Nurudeen Amadu has shared his satisfaction with his team’s 1-0 victory over Cameroon’s Victoria United in the second leg of the CAF Champions League preliminary round.

The Ghanaian champions advanced to the next round with a 2-0 aggregate scoreline after winning the first leg in Cameroon.

Amadu acknowledged the tough challenge posed by Victoria United but emphasized the importance of the victory. “We anticipated that it was going to be tough,” he said. “This is how they played there. We know we have a long way to go because we need to learn. It was a difficult game but what is important is that we have won.”

Samartex’s decisive goal came from defender Isaac Afful, who scored the only goal of the game at the Accra Sports Stadium. The Ghanaian side will now face Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca in the second round of the preliminary round. The first leg is scheduled for September 13, with the return leg to be held in Morocco a week later.

As Samartex prepares for the challenging task of facing Raja Casablanca, Amadu and his team will be determined to continue their impressive run in the CAF Champions League. Following their victory over Victoria United, Samartex will switch their attention to the Ghana Super Cup, where they will face Nsoatreman FC, the FA Cup winners, on August 31 in a game dubbed “Champions of Champions.”
