Leicester City are on the brink of securing the services of Black Stars forward Jordan Ayew from Crystal Palace, with the player currently undergoing a medical on Thursday afternoon.
The move comes after both clubs reached an agreement on an £8 million transfer fee, a significant improvement from Leicester’s initial £4 million offer, which had been rejected by Palace.
Ayew, who will turn 33 next month, has been a consistent figure at Crystal Palace since joining the club in 2018. Over the years, he has made more than 200 appearances and scored 23 goals for the Eagles. However, his role has diminished under new manager Oliver Glasner, leading to the decision to explore a transfer.
The experienced forward was only a second-half substitute in Palace’s Premier League opener against Brentford last weekend, further indicating his reduced role in the squad.
Leicester City manager Steve Cooper, who has previously worked with Ayew’s older brother Andre at both Nottingham Forest and Swansea City, is eager to bring the experienced forward into his squad. Ayew’s extensive Premier League experience is seen as a valuable asset as Leicester seeks to strengthen their team for the upcoming season.
