Manchester United have bolstered their defensive options with the signings of Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui from German giants Bayern Munich.
Both players have expressed their delight at reuniting with manager Erik ten Hag, under whom they thrived at Ajax.
De Ligt, who has signed a five-year deal with the option of an extra year, believes Ten Hag knows how to bring out the best in him. “Erik ten Hag shaped the early stages of my career,” he said. “He knows how to get the best out of me and I cannot wait to work with him again. I know what it takes to succeed at the highest level, and I’m determined to continue that record at this special club.”
Mazraoui, who has joined on a four-year deal with an option for a further year, is also looking forward to working with Ten Hag again. “It is exciting to be reuniting with him as I enter the prime years of my career,” the right-back said. He added that he understands Ten Hag’s expectations and is committed to helping the team achieve success.
Both players are eager to make an immediate impact at Manchester United and contribute to the team’s goals this season.
