Defending champions of the Ghana Premier League, FC Samartex 1996 will host their CAF Champions League game at the Accra sports stadium.
Samartex won the Ghana Premier League for the first time in the club’s history last season. By virtue of that, they will represent Ghana in the upcoming CAF Champions League.
The club officially revealed this on their social media handle
“The management of FC Samartex wishes to formally notify our cherished supporters and the wider sporting community that the Accra Sports Stadium has been approved by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as the venue for the Champions League.” The club said.
The Timber Giants will play against Cameroonian champions, Victoria United FC in the preliminary round of the competition. The first leg of the game will take place on August 18, at the Omnisport Stadium in Limbe, Cameroon before the second leg comes off in Accra on 25th August 2024.
