Ghana international Antoine Semenyo has set his sights on emulating the goal-scoring prowess of Norway and Manchester City star Erling Haaland.
In a recent interview, Semenyo, who plays for Premier League side Bournemouth, expressed his admiration for Haaland’s standout performances since his move to the Premier League from Borussia Dortmund in 2022.
Haaland has been a revelation in English football, scoring 36 goals in his debut season and adding 27 goals in 31 games last season. Semenyo, who is determined to follow in Haaland’s footsteps, praised the Norwegian striker’s physical attributes and finishing ability.
“That man [Haaland] is tall, strong, fast, and he can finish,” Semenyo said. “He’s got everything you need as a striker. The aura he has…if he’s on the pitch and if you don’t mark him…he’s gonna score. Everyone’s trying to mark him and even if you mark him, he still scores. I remember watching him…this is the kind of striker I want to be.”

Semenyo’s aspiration reflects his ambition to develop into a top-class forward.
In his first full season with Bournemouth, the Black Stars forward scored eight goals and provided two assists in 33 Premier League appearances.
His contributions have also been notable on the international stage, where he has been a regular for the Ghana national team, participating in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the recent 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
As Semenyo continues to build his career, he hopes to achieve similar success and become a key striker in the mould of Haaland.
