Hearts of Oak to sack 14 players ahead of 2024/25 season

Hearts of Oak are set to release 14 players as part of their preparations for the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.

The move aims to reshape the squad and enhance the team’s competitiveness for the upcoming campaign.

According to Graphic Sports, the list of departing players includes Congolese duo Glid Otanga and Linda Mtange. Both players, who joined the club two seasons ago, failed to meet expectations and will be leaving the Phobians.

Several other players are departing either due to new opportunities or underperformance. Salim Adams, who recently returned from FC Cincinnati in the USA, has signed with Sudanese club Al-Hilal Omdurman. Influential midfielder Ibrahim Salifu, who chose not to renew his contract, is moving to FC Drita in Kosovo.

The full list of players leaving includes:

Glid Otanga (Defender)

Linda Mtange (Midfielder)

Enock Asubonteng (Defender)

Nurudeen Abdul Aziz (Midfielder)
Evans Adomako (Defender)

Issa Kuka (Midfielder)

Richmond Ayi (Goalkeeper)

Richard Attah (Goalkeeper)

Kwadwo Osei Bonsu (Midfielder)

This significant reshuffle reflects Hearts of Oak’s strategy to revamp their squad. The club is focused on bringing in fresh talent to strengthen their lineup for both domestic and international competitions.

Hearts of Oak will face Heart of Lions in the 2024 Homowo Cup at the Accra Sports Stadium following their recent 2-1 defeat to Asante Kotoko in the inaugural Democracy Cup.
