A disturbing allegations of verbal abuse has rocked the football community in South Korea, with Son Woong-jung, the father of Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-min, at the center of the controversy. According to a police interview transcript, Son Woong-jung, a public figure and author, allegedly subjected a 12-year-old player at his football academy to a tirade of foul language and offensive names.
The young player, identified as Kim, reported the incident to police, stating that Son Woong-jung’s abuse left him feeling traumatized. The incident allegedly occurred just weeks after Kim enrolled at the academy in November. The boy’s family has also reported that Son Heung-yun, the brother of Son Heung-min, physically assaulted Kim, leaving a large bruise on his left thigh.
Son Woong-jung has defended his actions as “tough love” designed to push his young players to succeed. However, the family of the victim and their lawyer, Ryu Jae-yool, have dismissed this claim, stating that the actions constitute “child abuse in disguise of a training method.”

The investigation is ongoing, with authorities questioning young players at the academy to determine if they have experienced similar abuse.
